X API launches pay-per-use pricing

What changed

X launched pay-per-use pricing for the X API: you buy credits and pay per resource or request, with no subscription. It came with a new Developer Console (console.x.com), the XDK Python and TypeScript SDKs, an interactive Playground and an MCP server. Spending earns up to 20% back in xAI API credits. Basic and Pro plans stayed available at launch, and existing subscribers could opt in.

Why it matters for creators

Small bots and personal tools no longer need a monthly API plan. Current rates are on the pricing page, e.g. $0.005 per post read.
